Purpose, Mission, Goals
Indigenous communities have long held a deep connection to their land, serving as environmental stewards and preserving unique ecosystems and cultural heritage. However, contemporary challenges demand a paradigm shift towards scientific sustainability and technological innovation. The Ready Player Institute presents an ambitious project aimed at securing a brighter future for Indigenous communities through land acquisition and restoration. Providing the foundation for scientific progress, ecological preservation, and community development, this project seeks to empower Indigenous communities and advance scientific sustainability, technological innovation, and ecological preservation.
Our mission is to lead underserved communities towards a sustainable and prosperous future by:
- Restoring and preserving fragile ecosystems.
- Enhancing green infrastructure with scientific methodologies.
- Fostering community growth and engagement.
- Promoting science-based restoration of priority forest landscapes.
This project seeks to support the acquisition of the necessary land and embark on a transformative journey towards scientific advancement, technological innovation, and sustainable practices. The main goals include:
- Coastal and Riparian Habitat Restoration: Improving wildlife habitats and mitigating sediments, nutrients, contaminants, and pathogens.
- Ecosystem Restoration: Utilizing proven silvicultural practices for long-term management and reduction of wildfires.
- Green Infrastructure Enhancement: Planting 450,000 trees and native vegetation to enhance filtration of overland flow and 250,000 native trees to combat invasive insects and diseases.
- Science-Based Restoration: Improving ecological and economic indicators, including air and soil quality while establishing institutional controls and long-term stewardship.
- Partnerships: Collaborating with government agencies to advance scientific sustainability and ecological preservation and partnering with higher education institutions for research, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
Governance and Leadership
The Project Steering Committee will develop a governance framework outlining decision-making processes, reporting structures, and the roles and responsibilities of its members.
Steering Committee: Composed of key project stakeholders, including representatives from Indigenous communities, academia, and industry, responsible for decision-making and oversight.
Directors: Provide industry expertise, community engagement, and oversight.
Offering next-gen sustainable governance through responsible investing frameworks, transparent reporting and regulatory compliance, Project DARP - Decentralized Asset Responsibility Protocol - has been selected to support the functions of:
- Secretary: DARP's back-office autonomous agents will maintain project records and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Responsibility Board: DARP members will validate outcomes and issue IFGG coins rewards request. Coins can be used to purchase services on DARP.
- Advisory Council: DARP's experts in sustainability, forestry, wildlife biology, and indigenous community affairs will provide guidance and oversight.
- Controller: DARP's middle-office autonomous agents will be responsible for verifying portfolio assets, monitoring valuations and validating financial reporting.
Workforce Development
Approximately 150 jobs will be created during the first 24 months, including positions for scientists, field workers, project managers, community outreach coordinators, and administrative staff. The Program will prioritize qualified workers and graduates from marginalized and vulnerable groups including Indigenous, Hispanic, Veterans and foster youth.
